✥ Anthrpologie Inspired Chevron Ornament ✥

Have you ladies seen this Anthro ornament?

SOOO cool, right? I saw this bad boy in Pinterest and knew I had to at least try to make my own! Well, I'm pretty sure you didn't look at mine and automatically think of the Anthro version. However, this is what fits my other scheme with all my other ornaments and my skill level!
I used Martha Stewart glitter for this project {and for a zillion other ornament projects I'm working on.}
I used a 50% coupon and got it for like 5 bucks at Joann's. P.S. Michael's and Joann's sold different colors in the prepackaged glitters sets- just in case you interested in getting your own. I preferred Joann's choices for this project. They had great blues and greens.

I worked on one color at a time and did two stripes of each shade I used, except for the green stripe in the middle. The glitter comes with a great glue- which doesn't seem to have any issues adhering to glass. I would paint 2 stripes of glue, then sprinkle on the glitter.

Let it dry for an hour- or whenever I remembered to go back to it- then start the next color.I hope you like it! What are you planning on making this year? I have a LONG list! I better get shuffelin'!

▪Anthro Hack▪ Easy Faux Zinc Letters

Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good DIY! Tis the season to be merry. And boy am I ever! Shortly after Turkey Day, my husband and I rushed to Joann's. While he played with bells, lights, and Christmas trains, I scoured shelf after shelf in search of more cardboard letters. Tragically, the letters for "Merry Christmas" had already been taken.

✥ Reader Feature: Bedroom Board Batten Makeover ✥

I hope you all had a lovely holiday weekend!
Our Monday feature comes from Lisa @ A Vintage Vine. Lisa has a great DIY type blog where she shares her home improvement and decorating projects. She has a beautiful home, including a creative mix of refurbished furniture with custom finishes and {my favorite} vintage pieces mixed in! Like her kitchen, for example, stainless appliances and dual toned cabinets, decorated with items like her vintage stool and paper towel dispenser! Love!

✧✧✧✧✧
Good Morning friends and fans of from GARDNERS 2 BERGERS. I am Lisa from {A Vintage Vine} and I so happy to be with you today......Thanks Becca for inviting me over to give your readers a tour of the Master Bedroom  project that I completed a few weeks ago. I am sure you enjoy Becca's blog, as much as I do.....I have a list of her projects I am just itching to try! Especially, her WEST ELM stump table....That one, I have to copy! Hope everyone had a fun filled Thanksgiving, followed by a relaxing weekend! During the week of Thanksgiving most of my projects came to a screeching halt....Notice, I say "most".............How about you, did you sneak in a project or two over the week of Thanksgiving? I have to admit it, I did!! I continued "tweaking" my master bedroom makeover.....Here is an "AFTER" picture of what we did a few weeks ago.
We started out this project by stenciling the upper 1/2 of the wall and then adding MDF for a board and batten wall. Here are a few of my stencil tips......1. Use a clip on level to help get the stencil straight.....2. Secure the stencil to the wall with tape....3. Use a roller brush to apply the paint over the stencil.
I mention earlier, that over Thanksgiving I was "tweaking" this recent project.......Let's face it...I am never satisfied! See the new addition to the MDF wall in my bedroom?....We added a horizontal MDF board midway up...I love that but it made me HATE strongly dislike my headboard, so I took it down. What do you think?
Should I go with a headboard or NO headboard?....FYI, my headboard is a $5, thrift store find, spray painted black....I have had it 5 years and for it to get lost would not make me too sad!!
So the question is, HEADBOARD or NO HEADBOARD? Let me know what you think! Thanks again to Becca  for inviting me over to her wonderful blog, I thank you for stopping by and have a great day!!

I was just telling Lisa that I LOVE how she mixes textiles, she has a real talent for color and pattern- as you can tell from her bedroom pics.
She's also a pro at furniture makeovers, like her beautiful dining room table, TV credenza, wood plank bench, and dining room hutch {and more!!}.  There is so much inspiration on her blog!
Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

✥ Reader Feature: Wow! You Won't Believe This Kitchen! ✥

This week will knock your socks off! I mean, like wow!
I really wanted to have Mary Ann, a talented interior designer,  from Classic•Casual•Home show you her space. If you guys remember back, I first showed you all a pic from her upstairs loft when her light fixture inspired my DIY drum shade. Well, you ain't seen nothin' yet!

✧✧✧✧✧
When Becca from  Gardners 2 Bergers asked to feature our kitchen, I asked, "Are you sure people aren't tired of our kitchen?"  Then I thought, how ridiculous--there are millions of people out there who have never seen it.  Plus, Becca has some good questions that I have never really addressed before, such as...

1.  Did you work with a designer for this space?
2.  How did you come up with your "want" and "need" lists?
3.  Is there anything you would change about the design?
4.  Is there anything you would change about the renovation process?

1.  I was the designer for this 1950's California beach cottage remodel, but I worked very closely with Adrian, our contractor and expert carpenter.  We raised the ceiling in here as much as we could and added the tongue and groove.
Look at some of my very rough drawings that I found recently...
Ha!  Doesn't it look much better in person!??  Thanks to Adrian.

2.  How did you come up with your "want" and "need" lists?
This was our third kitchen that I designed and we like to cook (especially my husband).
We knew we were going to spend more money here and cut back in other areas of the remodel.  So, the want/need list was pretty long...
  •  The Viking Six Burner with Griddle Gas Range.  This is one extravagance that my husband wanted (and friends said "let him have it as we will ALL benefit").
  •  Large Island for Serving.
  •  Sitting Area to Keep the Cook Company (I just added the rug for the cooler days ahead)
  • The Walk-In Pantry (with obscured ribbed glass).  We lost a little hallway for this but we actually use the appliances in the pantry.  They are plugged in so my son can make a smoothie or toast without hauling the appliances out.
  •  The Beverage Center.  In addition to the wine refrigerator, we have filtered cold and instantly hot water taps.  I organized everything in an industrial tool tray and we enjoy capuccinos from the Nespresso maker.

  •  We have small property lots on Lido Isle, so we had gauged slate extend out on the patio to make it feel larger.  This is the patio just after a bit of rain last week.

  •  We used every little bit of space in the island as you can see here..

  • These are comfortable, padded counter stools...and easy to clean.

3.  Is there anything you would change about the design?  Not really, except I think I should have probably put in sliding doors here.  I like the look of French doors better but sliding doors would give us more space on the patio.  The low ceiling was just something we had to deal with from the 1950's design.

4.  Is there anything you would change about renovation process?  No, the whole house was completed in about nine months.  You can read more about it HERE, with before and after photos.  It helped to have good, reliable workers and a positive attitude!
Thanks, Becca, for letting me visit.

See what I mean?
Isn't she fabulous?
I love her classic style. Make sure to head over and check out the rest of her home! While you're over there, she frequently does home tours on her blog and has been in some beautiful properties.

✥{Glassless} Framed Calendar {Gift Idea} ✥

You know how when you were little, and it was Christmas or Father's day, or something like that, and you'd make your parents a present because- well because you were a kid. And they were all "thanks for the ridiculous, hideous, falling apart pot holder made out of strings that were Elmers glued together?!?" Then you'd skip away, bursting with happiness, cause you made'em something and they said they liked it.

Well, I made my "bonus-Mom" {aka awesome stepmother} a birthday present.
This is me skipping away all Pippy-Long-Stalking-style.
I made her a personalized photo calendar.
There's a ton to choose from online. You can find them for free {my favorite price} or you can pay {if it's a gift, like this one.}

I figure most people use their computer calendars or phones. So I picked a setup that emphasized the photo aspect of the calendar.

Then I put the pictures in a frame rather than having it bound together. I figure that's a lot better to look at than the regular spiral bound type hung with a thumb tack, plus, it's not hardly as customized.
To make it user friendly, I took the glass out of the frame.
This way you can write on it and the notes section is still accessible.
You can see the message area beneath the dates where my "Bonus Mom" can write all her important appointments etc. as things come up. My hope was that it could look good and be functional. Nifty, 'eh?

I made sure the family pics were personalized for Bonus Mom's special dates. For example, pics with her and the Pops for their March Anniversary and pics of her with her mother for Mom's Day. I also included the dates of family birthdays on the calendar when I had it printed up, so no excuses if you forget my birthday Bonus Mom!
If this had been for me I probably would've printed a free version offline and popped it in a frame.
Since it was a gift, I had it professionally printed so the pictures would be the best quality possible.
A few of the pictures weren't printed properly the first time, so I was given a couple of rough draft copies. The only set back with DIY is that it often takes several attempts to get a project done good and "right".
{See that gray area on the top right corner- yeah, that's not supposed to be there. I digitally edited them out of the other pics.}
It all worked out though, since that's what I stuck in frames for this impromptu photo shoot.

I like it hanging on the huge cork board best. When I saw it here, I was sold. Think I'll be making another one for us. Until the next project, Au revoir.

✥ Reader Feature: Storage Solution {Painted & Thrifty!} ✥

It's Monday ya'll, you know what that means- I'm bringing in the talent!

Today we're meeting Lindsay from Southern Lovely. She has a darling, crafty blog and hosts a weekly "Show and Share" on Wednesdays. A great place to show off your own projects and gets on inspiration from others. The best part of her blog is Lindsay herself, she is a total sweetheart...you'll see.
✧✧✧✧✧

Hello friend's of Becca's lovely blog, I am really excited to be here today! I'm Lindsay, and I blog over at Southern Lovely. I love creating beautiful things for less. Which means I am usually deep into a DIY, sewing project, painting project, anything that I can be creative with. I am also a busy mom of three little ones--who limit my crafting time quite a bit. Late nights is usually when I do my best work. :)
Today I am going to share a very inexpensive idea for creating extra space-- We needed more storage in our baby boy's room, but had to be creative where to put it. Right under the crib became the perfect place for something, just had to figure out what to use. I looked at different bins to purchase, but they all seemed a bit much, especially when buying multiple ones. I figured I could surely make something less expensive, and I that's just what I did. Started with three $1 buckets from the Dollar Tree Spray painted them--you have to do multiple coats to get it just right. There is a spray paint for plastic, which I tried, I just didn't love the color (there's not much selection). I ended up using my favorite green--Valspar New Avocado. Add some fabric--found mine at Walmart. I started by gluing the outer brim of the bucket with the fabric, then worked my way in. It took a lot of glue & cutting to get it to look pretty good. I cut a circle piece for the center of the bucket, then glued it down. It helped to make everything look smooth & more complete. Sorry I don't have a better explanation for how I did it. And I'm sure there is probably a better way of getting the fabric in there. This worked for me though. :) Lastly, added the vinyl numbers to each bucket, because I just love labeling things. :)
I am really happy with how these little inexpensive buckets turned out!

Thanks again for having me! Feel free to stop by my place sometime & say hi!

See, isn't Lindsay the awesome?
I love the zillions of applications for this little bucket makeover. Now you can buy the size and shape bucket you want and not think twice about it's actual color.
Such a great idea for organizing your crafting or painting supplies, laundry room items, winter mittens and gloves, kids' toys, schools supplies...there are endless options!
