Super Easy & Amazing DIY Laundry Detergent

Holy freaking crap! Did you know you can save a butt load of dough mixing a few ingredients with your laundry detergent? Oh yeah, it's true girl friends! There are a few things in this world that make me laugh just like the Pillsbury dough boy-- and numero uno is saving dough!

Grab your grader, get a baby sitter, and get to grinding ladies! Heck, have your husbands join in. Thats a clean joke they'll think is dirty. This is fun, easy, and makes laundry detergent last for ever!
Seriously- it's the best thing since sliced bread- if you haven't started making your own detergent...well now's the time, baby!
I've been using this detergent for around a year and I've tweaked the recipe. Now, I'll spread this good cheer through out all the land. Share it with as many as you like!

Materials:

  • 4 c Borax
  • 4 c Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
  • Downy UnStoppables (or Similar product)
  • 1 Bar Zote Soap
  • 1 c OxyClean (or generic knock off)
  • Cheese Grater

Directions:

  • Use a cheese grater to shave 1 Bar of Zote.(See poor attempt of a video below...)
  • Mix 4 c Washing Soda + 4 c Borax + 1 c OxyClean + 1 c UnStoppables + Grated Zote together.
So- that video is embarrassing- now that I've done the first one, I'm certain they'll get better from there. So anyways, the recipe makes about 12 cups of detergent, however, you could easily double the recipe.
The normal recipe lasts my family of two about 3-4 months. I know that sounds crazy, but the thing is- the amount your use per load is totally super small! You only need 1-2 tablespoons per load! It's amazing! Not only that, it smells wonderful and I never have problems with the detergent not dissolving, like I did with Tide.
You guys have got to try this stuff, you'll love it! What projects are you working on? Do you have any cleaning recipes you just love? Do share!
