Bathroom [almost no paint] Revamp

Ohmygoodness you guys! I've been super duper crazy busy cuz my grandma was coming for her annual visit- and oh my gosh our spare room was a disaster area. I had a ginormous list of things I wanted to accomplish before her visit- so although I didn't get a post published before she got here last week- I have several completed projects that will be coming out in the next little while {yay!}

Our guest bath was in dire need of an update. It was decorated with items from our last home-all shades of brown and tan. The bathroom doesn't have a window and the only natural light comes from the bedroom across the hall. The shadow on the shower curtain is me taking the pic- blasted room, so hard to photograph!!

For those of you who are new to my blog- we RENT! I know it's practically a dirty word in DIY blogging. So although there are no painted cabinets or walls- I think these before and afters look totally different!

 I guess maybe the before wasn't ugly, but I was completely over it. I'm on a decorating mission, no more tan!

The room just received an update bringing it into the 20th century and making it seem a part of our home! It's crazy what decor can do, even in a bathroom, to make the room feel different.
 So of course there's shades of gray and typography to make the room feel more like "us." A mixture of old and new objects make the space seem collected over time.

Some of the little details...

I almost titled this post "No Paint Makeover," until I remembered I had painted the now gray mirrors and chalkboard over the toilet. But I can't believe how different a room can look with a tired old bathroom can look with some new accessories and decor.

I knew I wanted the room to feel crisp and clean. Of course gray was a must to tie into the rest of out home. But I had this idea about juxtaposing the gray with gold. A color combo I haven't seem very often. But I thought it would be fun, especially with the pop of yellow from the shower curtain.

Now I feel like the formerly plain walls feel like a design choice. The whole room feels crisp and clean- just how you'd want a bathroom to feel! What do you think? Have you dealt with any rental design problems? Or made over your bathroom lately?
