Yes, it's nearly Valentine's Day! Almost time to tell that special someone how much you love them. Maybe you'll receive chocolates, flowers, or something special.
Do you remember what it was like in high school on V-day? Watching the most popular girl get a carnation in one class, then the next, and the next? For better or for worse, every girl waited, pretending not to care, but ready to leap out of her chair and fight each other to the death for those stupid cheap flowers. The more the other girls got, the more nerve wracking the day would get.

I'd sit there hoping and wishing I was as popular as Sara, who amassed twelve-fifteen every year. I would nervously bite on my nails, wondering if I could possibly have a secret admirer. As you all know, the girl with the most carnations was considered the hottest and most popular girl in the school. Sadly, it wasn't me....not by a long shot. Well, that is until Sara got knocked up senior year and my Dad sent twenty flowers anonymously to me my senior year. Thanks Dad!

Isn't that the cutest little pillow. In case you can't tell- I'm from Massachusetts. [It looks like Mass, doesn't it?] Wouldn't this be the cutest little present for the one you love? And it will last a lot longer than some stinky ol' carnations!
With V-day right around the corner, please remember its not about the number of flowers you get, but that someone in your life loves you very much, even if it isn't the quarterback. You matter!
Now that I've been married for so long, V-day usually consists of a card and dinner. No pressure and no stress. But for those of you who are still stressing over that romantic day, here's another fun little DIY craft to make for your special someone.

WOW. This post resonated well with me! I remember waiting for those flowers too {and feeling lousy}!! Maybe that is why I am so diligent in having flowers in the school office for my girls by noon no matter what the cost {crazy, I know}! Every girl deserves to feel special on this day! ~Michelle @ Dandelion Patina http://www.dandelionpatina.com
