This church is the STAR of Florence. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I swear I take photos of it every time we walk by- it’s so beautiful! And it’s story it pretty amazing. 🤓 Construction was started in the 1300’s but the dome was left unfinished for nearly 100 years because the technology to build it didn’t exist yet.
The famous architect, Breschi, turned to the Roman Pantheon to re-discover Rome’s building secrets. 🤫 He then won the contract to build this famous dome- which can be seen from all over the city! You can go to the top of the dome and the bell tower and the views are amazing! 🤩
Looking at this craftsmanship in person was an awe-inspiring experience. I hope these pictures can give you at least an idea of the church's beauty!
