Quick Oak Shelf Makeover & Montepulciano. IT (New Moon Filming Site)

Montepulciano! If you’re a twilight fan, this is where New Moon was filmed. 🧛‍♂️ 👧 The midevil town is tucked in the Tuscany hills so you drive up these tight, winding switchbacks on these narrow ancient streets. 

Because this was a quick overnight visit we arrived late at night and went straight into town. You can see the town is super cute but was totally deserted. We were waiting for the vampires to show up. Very spooky. ;) We shot some live video both at night and the next day. The next day you can really see how beautiful the ancient buildings are. I wish we had time to do a tour, but maybe next time.

Obviously the view is amazing. 😍 We just went for a quick overnight trip & stayed at a charming B&B run by the sweetest family and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. 

This week I have such a fun treat for you- a majorly big overhaul of this vintage craftsman style cupboard by the ubber-talented April James. We met and became fast friends over a shared love of paint and all things crafty. The only difference is, I am a self-taught amateur and she is a many times certified faux artist. 

Materials

• Raw wood - this is Oak

Directions

1.] PREP

If you're looking to replicate this beautiful weathered look, you'll need to start with oak. Our shelf was unstained or raw wood. If your project is smooth wood, then give it a quick sand with 80 grit before staining.

Choose your wood stain color. This company went with Weatherwood' Savage stain- it's the most popular on this species.

3.] STAIN

Stain wood using a large sponge brush. You want to really drench the wood. That's all you have to do, just let the wood stain absorb into the wood.
