Farmhouse Look for Floating Shelving

Hey guys! Here's a few promised photos of our time in the Olympic Peninsula! It is a truly magical part of the country, including Forks, WA. Annnd it's where the Twilight Series "happened" if you remember those books; we walked La Push, First, Second, & Third beaches.  This week we were in Portland, WA hanging with old friends and it's been a blast!

For our project, we've been seeing floating shelves around the blogosphere for a few years, because they're so simple and pretty. I super love the look on these weathered hickory shelves. If you do too, it's super easy to achieve!

Materials

  1. Hickory Shelves used here
  2. Sandpaper
  3. Weatherwood's Reclamation Stain
  4. Brush
  5. Weatherwood Varnish

Directions

1. SAND
Sand wood with 80 grit sandpaper to prepare the wood for stain.

2. STAIN
Apply a generous coat of Weatherwood Reclamation stain, applying with the grain. Do not wipe back off, allow the stain to dry naturally.

3. SEAL
Apply 2-3 coats of Weatherwood Varnish to lock in the color and protect the wood.

I'd love to hear about your recent travels or projects! And of course, I hope to see you at our linky party tomorrow!
