Driftwood Gray Coffee Table Rehab

Hey, lovely friends. Can I vent for a second? I just want to say, I miss hearing from ya'll. We've been together for years and years, and I know life gets busy, it has gotten to be for me. But I just miss hearing from you guys. Sure, I say the wrong name of something or have a typo, I hear from my reader-friends. But I miss knowing how you are, what's happening in your lives and and what you are working on! The death of comments creates a one way relationship, and I for one, am sad about it. I hope things move back in the opposite directions. Rant over.

This project turns a dated old coffee table into a nautical or french county style custom piece you can be proud of!  Oak pieces are extremely common, so if have one and you're looking to get this look then follow along.

Materials

    DIRECTIONS

1.] Begin by stripping the top of the piece with paint stripper, then scrape the finish off. Next, give it a quick sand with a hand held orbital sander.

2.] STAIN: For the table's top, stain the oak with Reclamation. This gives you a deep charcoal gray color. Use a wide paint brush to apply Weatherwood's Reclamation stain. The stain is reactive, so apply a heavy coat and allow the wood to absorb it. As the wood dries, it will turn colors.

3.] LIGHTEN: Use White Maintenance Oil to seal the table top and simultaneously lighten the look of the stained wood. This achieved a weathered and imperfect look. Learn more on the video clip below:

5.] PAINT: Now you can paint the base of the piece. You can get this look with Pearl Coatings 1-step furniture paint, color Brite. Chalk-style paint is a great, no prep paint option for furniture makeovers. It's a great paint for distressing, if that's you're thing.

This proves that beautiful furniture doesn't have to cost a lot. This style of furniture can be picked up for 25-50 bucks at a yard sales, add TLC and you can have a heirloom piece. If you have questions, let me know! Hope to see you tomorrow at the party! xo
