Vintage Weatherwood Wedding Sign

Did you know that Utah is the hub for DIY bloggers? No joke, something like 35% of US DIY bloggers are in Utah! Girls be getting crafty in this state! Missy is a fantastic blogger and furniture rehabber who also lives here in UT. She has done several darling makeovers like this patina green desk and this dovetail gray dresser.

Missy's brother was getting married and wedding was going to be vintage themed. She decided Weatherwood would be perfect for her hand-painted Vintage Wedding Signs.

I sent her a half pint of Weatherwood and Missy used some scrap wood to stain. It only took one coat of stain on this red cedar- she simply painted the stain on (although a sponge brush is usually your best option.)

Missy is super talented and actually free handed the writing! She just wrote it on some butcher paper and then used paint to write it on the sign.

The free-handing may be out of your comfort zone, but don't sweat it. You could create an image transfer, DIY stencil, or use a cricket stencil to design something.

She used twine to hang the signs and just stapled them to the back. Aren't they darling? The perfect aged touch for a new wedding.

Make sure you see how cute the Vintage Wedding Luncheon turned out and exactly how Missy used the signs with the rest of her vintage decor!
