Grain Sack Hidden Zipper Pillow

I have become obsessed with finding just the right painting of a cow. I want Mrs Cow to have soft eyes and a charming little face- but I also need the background colors to "work" with our home. Must.Find.Cow/Painting! Do you get like that? Just stuck on a decorating idea? This pillow project was similar, I was determined that my house needed some vintage pillow charm.
Just look at it- I'm sure you can see why!
I snagged this cute alfalfa sack off ebay for a song. I couldn't find another one on there- but this one on etsy is pretty similar. I love the red and green, especially being sort of washed out.

I'm not a huge sewer, so I followed a tutorial for this DIY. In fact, when I was in the MBA last year, my classmate's wife ran this blog called Twist Me Pretty. She has these amazing hair and makeup tutorials. But she also had a this great step-by-step tutorial for Hidden Zipper Pillows- so I used hers.

There wasn't a ton of extra fabric, so this turned out to be a small little pillow. It's maybe 16x16. Don't you love how the green stripe lines up on the back? I placed the zipper in the green stripe because a seam was easier to hide there.

One thing is for sure- I've added some more vintage charm to our home. You know me- I love the mixture of old and new, neutrals and color. You can see more of our home  -here.-  Spring always brings the desire to brighten my home with flowers, linens and brighter colors.
