Refinishing a Piano with Stain

I am getting over another bug, I mean bug, gosh. We have only been in Winter for 6 weeks and I've already caught 3 different viruses. But I wanted to make sure you were inspired during my misery (lol) so I am sharing one of my top 10 favorite Weatherwood projects with you. It's from my bloggy friend, Jen at The Created Home

Barnwood-Looking, Home Depot Barndoors with Weatherwood

This week we're working our way up the Oregon coast and boy, did it get cold fast! We will be in Seattle for a month. Does anyone have any recommendations for us to do or see? What about at Christmas time?
I thought I'd share a quick little project that will take your $$ and give it a $$$$ look! This sliding barn door was made from brand new raw wood and turned into authentic looking barnwood! Here's how to get the look.

Stunning Reclaimed Cypress Countertop

Hope you guys are keeping warm this December, the weather in Sicily has been amazing! Thanksgiving was a "balmy" 61 degrees and this time last year it was 42! For the holiday we walked the town square and popped into the Catania Cathedral, final resting place of St Agatha.

Create & Hold White Washed Gray Cabinetry

I know what you're thinking, my cabinets are already painted so I'll never use this project. Stop right there, for one- this color can be used anywhere- on furniture or walls, etc. For two- big box stores, like Home Depot, sell unfinished, raw alder cabinets! This home sold for tens of millions and you can have this look very easily! You could get this VERY high-end look for a fraction of the cost.

Low-Cost Alternative Wood Wall

Hey guys! This week's project idea comes from a high-end resort designer. She wanted a much wider, 12' planks for her design, but also wanted the warmth of wood. In the end, she found a wood plank alternative that save money and offers a wide range of customizability.

Rustic Pine Table Makeover

Rustic Pine Table Makeover before and after with #Weatherwood

Have you noticed Anthro and Ethan Allen are showing furniturepieces with an uber distressed look? You will be surprised to learn this look is just one additional step beyond what I typically show you. All you need is your Weatherwood Stain and some leftover chalk paint. For this project, you'll learn how to distress furniture without having to sand off the paint. It makes for a quick layered look and a lot less work.Ready?

source

You guys! I have been DIYing ;-) to share this news with your for the looongest time! Seriously, it's been killing me not to tell you. I'm rolling on the ground cycling my legs like an 80's aerobic video, that's how excited I am. So last year we heard from the designer at Magnolia Home [the home company that creates the Fixer Upper masterpieces] and they wanted to see our products! The stars were literally shining on us.

Chip & Joana Gains stars to be exact! Ironically we were in Texas at the time, so we were able go there and see the famed Magnolia store! You know, from Fixer Upper!

French Country Coffee Table Tutorial

French Country Coffee Table with #weatherwoodstains

I like to share with you guys the idea of buying a raw piece of furniture, brand new, and customizing it. I feel like this is the perfect option in a few scenarios. When want a high-end look you don't want to pay for, when you really want solid-wood furniture, you can't find something you like in stores. Once you buy that raw piece of furniture, go to blogs to find the look you like and how to achieve it!

Reclaimed Ash Sliding Barndoor

This barn door was made from reclaimed wood, but we still used Weatherwood stains to make it look old. That might not make sense to you. But when you cut into old reclaimed or barn  wood, the vintage look disappears and you have brand new-looking wood, again! For that reason, a lot of reclaimed wood distributors use these stains to give their reclaimed wood a reclaimed look! lol

Restoration Hardware Trestle Inspired Table

Create weathered wood look in one step using #weatherwoodstains

You know I love to get that Restoration Hardware color, especially for this Salvage Trestle Wood Table. You know what they say, "good things come to those who wait." Any ways, I wanted RH, but with their tables are too stinking expensive! It did take me forever to plan the project, find the table, and get the time to do it, but I fought the law and guess what... I won!

Faux Chippy Pine Farmhouse Table

This week's post is from a friend and Weatherwood stockist friend, April James from April James InteriorsApril is a professional, certified painter and I always learn new techniques from her. She takes a brand new pine table and turns it into an authentic-looking antique. I don't know anyone who do make a brand new piece look like a textured, chippy old piece of farmhouse furniture better than April!

Rustic Modern Cherry Fireplace

The metal frame for this gorgeous fireplace was custom fabricated, but I can tell you how to get this incredible color! This fireplace was made from the hardwood, cherry. You can use cherry for anything from hardwood floors, to furniture, to accent pieces like this. It was more commonly used several decades ago, so this post would be great for your old hardwood floors.

DIY Driftwood Gray Maple Hardwoods

Maple floors are less common now, because maple doesn't take traditional wood stains very well. But they were very common back in the day. You will find old maple floors, with these skinny 2" boards all over in old homes, especially in the east and mid-west. Staining maple is not a problem with our products, as you can see. Just apply stains and let them air dry! So this is a great project for your old maple flooring, to update it and bring it into the 21st century! Not to mention, this is the easiest way to stain your own flooring.

Driftwood Gray Coffee Table Rehab

Hey, lovely friends. Can I vent for a second? I just want to say, I miss hearing from ya'll. We've been together for years and years, and I know life gets busy, it has gotten to be for me. But I just miss hearing from you guys. Sure, I say the wrong name of something or have a typo, I hear from my reader-friends. But I miss knowing how you are, what's happening in your lives and and what you are working on! The death of comments creates a one way relationship, and I for one, am sad about it. I hope things move back in the opposite directions. Rant over.

Barnwood-Looking Cedar Beams

Don't you think it's funny how your eyes are attracted to what you want? Whether it's something menial like a possession or item, or something deeper like a spouse or child. I seem to find myself paying attention to different things nowadays. I wonder if this means a mark in time or a fork in the road? I will let you know if, what I have my eye on, I achieve!

This week's project is a simple makeover with a whole lot of room appeal. When you need to stain a wood that begins really red or orange, it's very difficult to cover that original wood tone. Here's how to do it right! Ready?

DIY Barnwood Ceiling

You guys know that you don't have to buy reclaimed wood to have the reclaimed-wood look. Right? Alder is my most popular wood species for new projects, because it's an inexpensive hardwood and it stains so pretty! You can this look ready to install through Home Depot- like I mentioned in this instructional SHIPLAP tutorial.  But here's how to stain the wood and do it yourself.

DIY EBONIZED White Oak Floors

The other afternoon I was sitting on the beach reading the Spring issue of Magnolia Journal. I came across an article that struck me to my core and I thought I'd share with you. There was a story about a woman who decided to purchase a ranch rather than retire from her normal job to a life of leisure. She was not a "rancher" so she had a lot to learn. On her first day of horse back riding lessons, the horse was spooked and when it jolted, the reins were wrapped around her fingers, pulling off the tips of two of them. She rushed to the hospital but the finger tips were lost. She became doubtful and fearful of her decision to start a new "ranching career." How many of us can relate? I know when I started the MBA I had similar doubts that I was making the right choices and that I was cut out for the program. And again, starting as an entrepreneur, I had those doubts and risked our income anyway. Well, the woman's daughter writes her a letter, and I'm paraphrasing, "If you continue to live by Fear, the world will get smaller and smaller." I can tell you for a surety that this is true. Live by faith, live with joy, and love failure, because it teaches you something. Let's commit to live without fear, the best we can- ok?

Maple Flooring Picture Frames

We are gearing up for some family to come into town this weekend! I am so excited. We plan to snorkel in Kay Largo and kayak in Key West! The Keys have the most unusual beaches and marine life I've ever seen, and I've been to nearly every large beach destination in the US! I even pent 6 years living in Hawaii. I believe it's all of  the plant life, which creates food and homes for iguanas and hermit crabs, sting rays, horse shoe crabs- you name it, we've seen it! Follow along my Instagram, if you'd like to see some of our adventures.
