These famous bronze doors helped kick off the renaissance in Florence. They were the first to show “perspective,” the visual trick that allows each life-like scene to come alive in the viewers’ mind. This is a huge leap forward for art!
There are actually 3 sets of famous doors in the museum, showing how art is changing over this 50 year period. The center ones are the most famous, with the visual life of Christ, they’re the most advanced.
This museum also has a few other treasures, like work by Donatello and Michelangelo. If you're going to Florence, it is a must see!
