▴Ikea Hack▴ Pom Pom Throw

Aloha friends! I've been working on this cute little IKEA blanket upcycle. I've had this throw for ages and it's always been...just okay. But I really wanted to pump up the volume, to make it stand out! With pom poms all the rage, I figured that would be just the right amount of pizazz.

Pom Poms are super easy to make, and once you've made them they can be used anywhere! They're super cute as garland, party decor, and fringe decor. I'll walk you through, step by step, so that you can make your own, too!

Materials:

  1. Toilet Paper Rolls
  2. Tape
  3. Scissors
  4. Thread and Needle
  5. Throw [I used this one]
  6. Yarn
How to- Create Pom Poms

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Get 2 toilet paper rolls and tape them together. Note: The size of the rolls or the item you "wrap with yarn" will determine the size of your pom pom. Two toilet paper rolls give an average-large pom pom.
  1. Next wrap yarn around the rolls several times. Cut the yarn from the roll, to detach the rolls from the rest of the yarn.
  1. Slide the yarns off the rolls.
  1. Pinch your wound up roll of yarn to keep it secured.
  1. Use a different piece of yarn to tie around the bunch, securing the wad of yarn right where you were pinching it together.
  1. On the opposite side from where you've just tied the yearn, you want to cut through all the strands of yarn.
  1. Now you should have a thick bunch of yarn tied in the middle with yarn.
  1. Ta da! You can mold your pom pom into shape.

9. I used regular needle and thread to attach 15 pom poms to a chenille IKEA throw.

Isn't that the cutest- to liven up that old throw. You've got to admit, IKEA sells the very best basics at some darn good prices.
Here's a little of what you've missed on Instagram this week. Like I've said, it's been a lot of work selling Weatherwood, but we've had a lot of fun on the Washington coast, as well!

I've been feeling pretty darn lucky to have such a wonderful man. He has done to much hard work and has supported me as we launch my business. He is seriously the best husband! I just don't know another man like him, who would pour out all this effort to move his wife's dream forward. If you read this, then thanks babe!
